Specialist oral surgery across Auckland, Northland and Bay of Plenty
Dr. Peter Sese is a Specialist Oral Surgeon providing oral surgery services across the Auckland, Northland, and Bay of Plenty regions. He focuses on delivering clinical excellence while ensuring his patients remain comfortable and well supported throughout their surgical care.
About Dr Peter Sese
Dr. Sese completed his specialty training in Oral Surgery at the University of Otago and Dunedin Public Hospital, culminating nearly a decade of education and surgical training. Born and raised in Apia, Samoa, he moved to Dunedin in 2011 to complete his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS).
Dr. Sese has extensive experience in both public and private practice. He began his career in public hospitals in Samoa, where he developed a strong interest in oral surgery. He later practised in Invercargill, focusing on rural oral health and expanding his clinical skills to help reduce the need for specialist referrals outside Southland. This experience led him to complete a Master of Dentistry (MDent) in Rural Oral Health before pursuing specialty training in Oral Surgery with a Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent).
Dr. Sese is highly trained in dentoalveolar surgery, including wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, advanced bone grafting techniques, and oral pathology. He is committed to delivering exceptional care while ensuring patient comfort and minimising anxiety.
Peter enjoys spending time with his family in Auckland, while appreciating the slightly warmer climate compared with Dunedin. He stays active at the gym, walks his dog Maui, and has recently taken up golf.
Treatments
Surgical Removal of Teeth
1
Your dentist, doctor, or specialist may refer you to a Specialist Oral Surgeon for the surgical removal of complex teeth or when treatment requires additional consideration due to an underlying medical condition.
Wisdom Teeth
2
Impacted wisdom teeth can cause recurrent pain, infections, damage to adjacent teeth, and may be associated with pathology. These teeth often require advanced surgical techniques for safe removal.
Dental Implants
3
Dental implants are a reliable rehabilitation option for replacing single or multiple missing teeth. We use 3D technology to plan and place implants with precision, helping to ensure accuracy and long-term success.
Bone and Soft Tissue Grafting
4
Bone and soft tissue grafting is often required to support implant surgery. Dr Sese has a special interest in using a patient’s own bone to reconstruct bony defects and facilitate implant rehabilitation.
Oral Pathology and Biopsy
5
Incisional or excisional biopsies may be required to diagnose or remove abnormal growths and lesions within the oral cavity and jaws. Histopathological examination provides a definitive diagnosis to guide appropriate clinical management.
Intravenous Sedation and General Anaesthesia
6
We offer intravenous sedation to help ensure comfort for anxious patients during procedures. Access to surgical theatres is also available when treatment under general anaesthesia is required.
ACC and Health Insurance
7
Dr Sese is a registered specialist provider with ACC, and offers procedures for patients under any health insurance provider.
